A Academia anunciou agora há pouco os indicados de suas 24 categorias. Entre os filmes mais badalados de 2013, nenhuma surpresa: American Hustle e Gravity com dez indicações cada, e 12 Years A Slave com nove. Já os esquecidos ou quase esquecidos temos Rush, All Is Lost, The Butler e Inside Llewyn Davis.
Após a revelação de premiações como Globo de Ouro, Critics' Choice e BAFTA, não era de se esperar muitas novidades na lista dos membros da academia estadunidense. Além dos citados no primeiro parágrafo, longas aclamados pela crítica, como Nebraska, Her, Captain Phillips, Philomena e The Wolf Of Wall Street marcam presença com várias nominações. Destaco o nome de Jonah Hill entre os atores coadjuvantes, já que o comediante somente havia aparecido em listas de associações de críticos.
Inside Llewyn Davis, All Is Lost e Saving Mr. Banks estão entre os quase esnobados pela Academia. Premiado em Cannes e com uma recepção calorosa da crítica, o filme dos irmãos Coen apenas aparece nas categorias técnicas. Oscar Isaac foi esquecido entre os melhores atores e "Please Mr. Kennedy" entre as canções originais, indicações que pareciam certas há alguns meses. A película estrelada por Robert Redford, por sua vez, recebeu uma indicação na categoria Sound Mixing. Nem na da melhor trilha sonora - vencedora do Globo de Ouro no último domingo - ela foi inclusa. Saving Mr. Banks concorre como melhor trilha sonora, com Emma Thompson ficando de fora como melhor atriz;
Ignorados completamente? The Butler, de Lee Daniels, e Rush, de Ron Howard. O primeiro não foi uma grande surpresa porque ele já havia sido esquecido nas listas do Globo de Ouro e BAFTA, então já esperava por isso. Porém, deixar de fora a brilhante adaptação sobre a rivalidade entre Niki Lauda e James Hunt foi um pecado. Eu admito que tinha esperanças dele ser indicado como melhor filme, melhor roteiro adaptado, ator coadjuvante, edição e som, ou seja, você pode imaginar a minha surpresa ao não ver nenhuma categoria sequer com o nome Rush.
Prisoners, uma das produções mais badaladas do Festival de Toronto, concorre na categoria de cinematografia, enquanto Before Midnight na de roteiro adaptado. August: Osage County foi lembrada nas de atriz e atriz coadjuvante. Sim, Meryl Streep recebeu sua 18ª indicação ao Oscar este ano, lembrando que ela já tem três no currículo. Dois filmes que foram maltratados pela crítica em 2013 aparecem em duas categorias técnicas cada: The Lone Ranger e The Great Gatsby. Ah, Jackass foi indicado na categoria de melhor maquiagem também.
Por último, algo que marca a 86ª edição do Oscar é a pouquíssima quantidade de longas "estrangeiros" na lista (detesto essa denominação, algo que o diretor Leos Carax criticou ano passado). Em outras palavras, faltou um filme sem ser na língua inglesa nas categorias principais. Isso é raro de acontecer, mas já ocorreu com produções como Amour, A Vida é Bela, Fale Com Ela, Piaf - Um Hino Ao Amor e o nosso Central do Brasil. Le Passé, La Grande Bellezza, La Vie D'Adèle e The Hunt são películas de altíssimo nível, mas qual a chance de serem lembradas em categorias tão concorridas como as de melhor filme, roteiro, ator ou atriz? Ainda mais em um ano em que o cinema norte-americano teve diversas produções aclamadas mundialmente? Tivemos em 2014 The Grandmaster, da China, como figurino e cinematografia. E só.
