Whiplash é o grande vencedor do Festival de Sundance

Se em 2013 foi Fruitvale Station que foi o grande vencedor do Festival de Sundance, este ano foi o drama Whiplash que levou a melhor. Dirigido pelo jovem Damien Chazelle, o filme recebeu os prêmios de júri e da audiência.

A produção é baseada em um curta de mesmo nome do próprio cineasta, exibido em 2013 no mesmo evento e que também foi premiado pelo júri. O roteiro é sobre um jovem baterista que deseja tornar-se um músico brilhante, perfeito. Ao juntar-se à banda de um conservatório de música de Manhattan, ele vê em Terence Fletcher, seu líder, a oportunidade de atingir tal meta e o homem vai fazer de tudo pra que ele a alcance.

Miles Teller e J.K. Simmons estrelam a película, que foi aclamada pela crítica em Sundance. Ela foi adquirida pela Sony Pictures Worldwide pouco tempo após sua estreia no festival e será lançada pela distribuidora tanto nos Estados Unidos quanto internacionalmente.

Outro filme que saiu premiado de um dos principais eventos da indústria cinematográfica do ano, foi o drama familiar The Skeleton Twins, que deu a  Craig Johnson e Mark Heyman o prêmio Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. Confira abaixo a lista completa de vencedores do Festival de Sundance de 2014:
